The official start of Summer is June 21st but that doesn’t mean that you can’t start planning for summertime fun today! We’ve compiled a list of our favorite summer trips perfect for families to take in and around Poplar Bluff, MO to help you get a jump start of your summer of fun plan and don’t forget Hydro Adventures’ Water Park is open daily and is a great safe place to bring kids!

Live it up like a local!

Whether you’re visiting the “Gateway to the Ozarks” for the first time, the 20th time, or have lived here for a decades there are some can’t miss spots you’ll need to plan a visit for, such as the Black River. Stretching about 300 miles from Arkansas to Missouri, this black tinted river runs right through the town of Poplar Bluff and is a popular place for local fishermen, boaters, kayakers, and anyone just looking to beat the summer heat. There is a boat launch conveniently located in Sportsman’s Park where Catfish, Sunfish, Black Bass, and White Bass can all be found. We love the Black River and you will too.

Get out of the sun.

Get out of the sun and take in a show at the Historic Rodgers Theater where countless community events and live performances have been held for years. Or watch more modern movies at the AMC Classic Theater on 67 S. Perfect for children who can’t stay still during movies, the AMC hosts $5 Ticket Tuesdays and offers RealD 3D movies.

Take in the culture.

Summer presents the perfect opportunity to continue a child’s education through visits to museums, art galleries, and other cultural experiences. Poplar Bluff is proud to have one of the five city art museums in Missouri, the Margret Harwell Art Museum. This vital cultural resource hosts travelling exhibits, art classes, educational programs for children, and a growing permanent collection of works by contemporary Missouri artists. If your little one is interested in scouts or sports, then a visit to the Poplar Bluff History Museum is sure to delight. The museum features the history of Poplar Bluff and Bulter County, as well as a Sports Hall of Fame, U.S. Postal Service display, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts displays, and so much more!

Family fun in the sun.

After a day of visiting museums and taking in shows, treat the kids to a day at Poplar Bluff’s own Hydro Adventures! Southeast Missouri’s premiere Water Park and Family Entertainment Center, the park features slides, rides, and attractions perfect for the entire family, such as Crashing Waves Bay. The only way to spend a day at the beach in Southeast Missouri, the surf is always up in this giant wave pool. Looking to be a little more adventurous? Then grab a tube and take a ride down Poseidon’s Pipeline or race against others on your way down the Twisted Six water slide, a wicked six-person water slide full of surprise twists. The little guppies will love splashing around in Splish Splash Bay where the water is shallow, but the adventures are endless. While the parents can unwind on the gentle currents of our Easy River.

However, don’t make the mistake that Hydro Adventures is just a Water Park. When you’re ready to dry off we have multiple indoor and outdoor attractions perfect for the whole family, such as miniature golf on our 18-hole Poplar Putters course, Go-Karts on Tailpipe Alley, laser tag, miniature bowling, and over 30 arcade games in our Mega Arcade!

With so much to see and do the best way to take advantage of everything Hydro Adventures and the town of Poplar Bluff has to offer is with a 2018 Season Pass! Included in the price of the pass is unlimited access to the Water Park and Dry Park, as well as unlimited mini-golf and go-kart rides.
